Interzone is dedicated to upholding web standards. The governing body for web standards called World Wide Web Consortium has various types of web page encoding standards. It is our goal to have every site validate as Transitional or Strict. All of these models follow what is commonly referred to as a "well formed document model".
This is important for many reasons. First is the sense of pride in doing things correctly. Next is a reduction in browser errors and incomatibility. Search engine results and the robots that gather these results are known to perform better when your website is a "well formed document".
To code for these standards is not easy. The difficulty stems from so many different directions. Site administrators (our clients) break this validation by using bad code in the content managment systems. Other times things break, no particular reason. So we are always chasing this level of compliance. This investment of time and resources, over the long run, is more economical for everyone. We invest less time making browser exceptions and fixing sites for limited instances. At the end we are complying with the same standards that the groups building the web browsers are looking to for guidance. If are all using the same rule book life becomes much easier.
